There are different types of slings

Synthetic lifting slings are a versatile and reliable choice for a variety of lifting applications. They come in a variety of materials and strengths, and for optimizing lifting tasks, choosing the right load capacity for the intended task is crucial. In this article, you'll get an overview of the different types of slings, making it easier to choose the most suitable one for your task.

Understanding the nuances and strengths of each type of sling allows lifting and rigging professionals to select the most appropriate solution for their specific applications. Whether lifting heavy objects, precise positioning or adapting in a variety of environments, the versatility and reliability of synthetic slings make them an indispensable tool in an assortment of lifting and rigging equipment. Prioritizing the right choice of textile slings ensures efficient lifting and increases safety and durability during operation.

Roudslings

These slings are probably the most widely used lifting slings. Available in a variety of capacities and lengths, they are known for their low stretch and excellent resistance to moisture and chemicals. Our POWERTEX round polyester slings are color-coded up to 10 tons of lifting capacity for easy recognition.

Low stretch: Polyester slings have minimal stretch, providing stability during lifting.
Resistance: These slings can withstand harsh environmental conditions, including exposure to moisture and chemicals, except alkali-based chemicals.
Precision lifting: This type of sling is preferred when precise positioning is needed due to the sling's low stretch.

Webbing slings

Webbing slings are made of woven synthetic fibers and are known for their flexibility and ease of use. The slings are color-coded for easy recognition.

Flexible: belt slings easily conform to the shape of the load and provide safe and balanced lifting.
Gentle to the load: their soft texture prevents damage to delicate surfaces.
Wide load distribution: Belt slings distribute the load evenly, reducing the impact on load points.

Polypropylene slings

Polypropylene slings are lightweight and suitable for a variety of light to medium lifting tasks.

Lightweight: Ideal for situations where reducing the weight of a rigging set is critical.
Waterproof: Polypropylene slings are waterproof, making them suitable for use in marine and wet environments.
Cost-effective: They are often the most cost-effective solution for lifting slings.
Resistance: They are unaffected by most acids and bases, but are attacked by organic solvents.

Aramid slings

Aramid is a strong and heat-resistant synthetic fiber material, also known as Kevlar, twaron or nomex.

High load-carrying capacity: Aramid lifting slings maintain strength even at extremely high temperatures. They have a high strength-to-weight ratio.
Excellent resistance: Aramid lifting slings can withstand sparks, exceptional resistance to cuts and wear.
Cost-effective: The heat-resistant outer pocket can be repaired.
Lightweight: Aramid slings are soft, lightweight and easy to handle.

Nylon slings

Nylon slings are widely used in various industries because of their versatility and strength.

High load carrying capacity: nylon slings show impressive load carrying capacity while maintaining flexibility.
Excellent resistance: they are resistant to alkali-based chemicals, ensuring durability.
Ideal for heavy loads: their ability to absorb shock makes them suitable for lifting heavy loads.

High performance fibers (HMPE)

High-modulus synthetic fibers, such as Dyneema,® provide exceptional strength and durability. (HMPE stands for High Modulus PolyEthylene).

Extreme strength: HMPE fibers have an incredible strength-to-weight ratio, making them suitable for lifting heavy loads.
Minimal Stretch: HMPE slings exhibit minimal elongation, providing stability during lifting.
