Polyester slings - a practical and safe solution
Polyester slings are the ideal tool for lifting loads without damaging or weakening their surfaces. They come in two variants: belt slings and snake slings, available in different colors, which is not accidental. The colors of the slings are in accordance with EN 1492-1 (for belt slings) and EN 1492-2 (for snake slings).
Why does color matter?
European standards assign specific colors to slings to easily and quickly identify their load capacity. The color coding and maximum working load (WLL) are shown below:
- 1 ton – purple
- 2 ton – green
- 3 ton – yellow
- 4 ton – grey
- 5 ton – red
- 6 ton – brown
- 8 ton – blue
- 10 ton and more– orange

Tag- reliable identification
In addition to the color, the slings must be marked with a blue label that contains key information:
- manufacturer ID,
- year of manufacture,
- material,
- effective working length (EWL),
- serial number,
- European standard,
- maximum working load (WLL)
Black stripes - an additional way of marking
Black webbing are often visible on the sling straps, which also indicate WLL. Each stripe corresponds to 1 ton. While this is not required by EN 1492, it is a useful solution to facilitate identification.
With color-coding and labeling, polyester slings provide safety and convenience of use. Detailed data, including color codes and load limits, can be found in the load tables, which are an integral part of the technical documentation.
